Federation Resources

The Federation has a long track record of organising and supporting projects that are of benefit to family historians.

Projects

We participated in the 1881 Census index of Great Britain - which was the first major “crowd-sourced” exercise in the world. As a result, free access is available online to help you locate details of over 30 million people who were recorded on that occasion.

We are continuing to investigate opportunities to help make records and associated indexes available to the widest possible audience.

Resources

We have pulled together some key information and resources to help you get started with your family history research.

Education

If you're starting out on your family history journey or ready to learn more, our educational resources are designed to help you.
