Lives of the First World War

soldier 1917ish

A new website, sponsored by the Imperial War Museum, provides a personal place for each one of millions of men and women who contributed during the First World War.

Lives of the First World War” is your opportunity to take part in building a permanent digital memorial that includes members of your own family. You can browse the site, upload photographs and add stories free of charge.

Access to a range of associated records is available to subscribers who pay either £6 per month or £50 a year. Before signing up to pay, it is wise to check whether the records you want to see are covered by another site to which you already have access.

Over 6.5 million life stories have already been added to this site, which can readily be searched by name from its home page.
