Welcome to our Brand New Ezine
What's an Ezine, you may ask? Well, it's basically an Electronic magaZINE (so that's how it's pronounced, to rhyme with "gene" as in genealogy).
I say 'basically' because it's closer in purpose to a news-sheet than a magazine, bringing you the latest news and useful information. Our ezine specialises in doing this in the world of family history in general and of the Federation of Family History Societies in particular.
We live in the 21st century and technology now enables us to live our lives more efficiently and cost-effectively. Until the end of last year, every time we issued an edition of our Newsflash, we had to physically print off the original, produce hundreds of copies, envelope them individually, and post them all out by mail.
Now we can deliver the original of this, its successor, direct to your computer at a press of a button, saving time and money. This method will also enable us to be even more up to date in its contents, and to make the photos included in it as colourful as the news items themselves.
We'll continue to keep you up to date with important news as it breaks, via our FFHS-NEWS mailing list (if you haven't already subscribed to that, you can do so by sending an email to ffhs-news-subscribe@maillist.ox.ac.uk - no subject or message body are needed - and you'll receive a reply asking you to confirm your subscription).
But this ezine enables us to keep you informed in more depth, and I'm sure you'll look forward to receiving your copy every two months. To receive your own copy of the Ezine you can subscribe here.
I wish the new ezine every success. If you enjoy reading it, please tell your friends and fellow society members and encourage them to subscribe to it. If you don't enjoy it, please tell us why.
Geoff Riggs, FFHS Chairman
