GENfair slashes its rates for collecting membership subscriptions!

Commission charges to member societies for these reduced from 10% to 5% from 1 October 2006

We recognise that a number of our member societies are suffering because of falling memberships and this is also impacting their finances.

GENfair, by reducing this commission rate, will make it more attractive for our members to offer payment of membership fees over the Internet, which will make it easier for researchers to join or renew - especially if those members live overseas. It will also help marginally reduce society expenses. If you encourage your members to use GENfair in this way, they may also browse the publications you have for sale on your 'stall', which will increase your income.

As far as FFHS (Publications) Ltd is concerned, hopefully it will also increase the turnover on GENfair, which will make it a more successful service. It is a service provided for you, our members, and to make it successful it is vital that you support it by using it as an extra sales outlet for your publications. Some societies have in the past been reluctant to use it in the fear that it will impact their own direct sales. But experience has shown that sales are significantly increased overall by using GENfair as an additional means of publicising your 'products'. The more sales outlets you have, the more you will sell. Increasing numbers of people are shopping online nowadays and if you haven't an on-line presence to market your society and your products, you're losing out.
