Federation Of Family History Societies

Member Societies

Wales

The names of the counties under which the societies are listed are mainly the traditional administrative counties (also referred to as the "historic" counties) that existed prior to the 1974 Local Government re-organisation. Some of the societies, however, reflect the newer administrative county areas that were then created (e.g. Dyfed FHS covers the original traditional counties of Cardiganshire, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire). Comprehensive information on each of these counties and its archives is available in GENUKI.

Most of the following Family History Societies are also members of the Association of Family History Societies of Wales.

If you are researching your Welsh ancestry you may be interested to learn that on Tuesdays and Thursdays you are able to have an 'Instant Chat' with the staff of the National Library of Wales enquiries desk. It is an opportunity for you to go online and find out more about family or local history or any subject and get an instant reply. For further information and to start your chat visit http://www.llgc.org.uk/index.php?id=147#qwidget
