FFHS Awards

The Elizabeth Simpson Award for the Journal
making the Best Contribution to Family History

The Elizabeth Simpson Award was first introduced in 1979 and is awarded annually to the society whose journal has, in the opinion of the judges, made the best contribution to family history during the preceding twelve months.

The award is sponsored by Immediate Media Co. publishers of Who Do You Think You Are? Magazine and the FFHS. The winning society will receive a total of £250 prize money, a trophy and certificate. The winning editor will receive a one year subscription to Who Do You Think You Are? Magazine and the winning society will be featured in an edition of the magazine following announcement of the winners.

The winners and runners-up, can display an emblem in their journal as well as a “virtual emblem” on their website with a link to the FFHS page announcing the award.

The Geoff Riggs Award for the Best Website

The Geoff Riggs Award (previously Best Website Award) was first awarded in June 2001. It is presented annually to the member society with, in the opinion of the judges, the best web site, in recognition of the importance of this media. 

Sponsorship for this award is provided each year by ABM Publishing and FFHS. The winning society will receive £250. ABM Publishing will also run a feature article on the winning society in Family Tree magazine (next available issue after the announcement of the award).

The winners and runners-up, can display a "virtual award" emblem on their web sites, with a link to the FFHS page announcing the award.
